My Vitamin Intake For The Day

I've recently read the Eades' new book, The 6-Week Cure For The Middle Aged Middle, and found it interesting; I picked up a few new ideas. In The 6-Week Cure, the Eades' recommend a couple of weeks of 4 low carb protein shakes per day, plus a very low carb meal. They also say that this is their way of getting around people's resistance to the idea of a few weeks of an all-meat diet -- they specifically state that their protein shakes are formulated to give pretty much the same protein/fat/carb ratio as meat.

Well, I have no resistance to the idea of an all-meat diet (which, for the record, includes eggs, as well, but no cheese.) In the interests of knocking off a few pounds before Thanksgiving, I've decided to go with the all-meat diet for a week. Per the Eades' instructions, I'm eschewing alcohol (sob!), but I am not completely avoiding caffeine, though I've cut back substantially.

So today I've had:

Three eggs fried in bacon grease
A HUGE pork sirloin chop with a little coconut oil melted over it, since it was very lean
Three eggs scrambled with just two tablespoons minced onion (not meat, I know) and a couple of chicken livers, cut into chunks, also cooked in coconut oil.

I have not been hungry. I mean, really not hungry. Not surprising, I should be headed into ketosis by now. But here's the thing that really interests me: I've been keeping track using MasterCook, and here are the nutritional stats for today's food:

1165 calories
64% from fat (I consider this a good thing; I aim for 65%-70% of my calories from fat)
3% from carbohydrate
34% from protein

34 grams of saturated fat (Yay!)
28 grams monounsaturated fat
Just 8 grams polyunsaturated (super YAY!)
8 grams of carb
trace of fiber
96 grams protein

Only 18% of my calcium, but --
76% iron
68% zinc
56% vitamin C (with no fruits or vegetables!)
602% vitamin A
119% B6
411% B12
172% thiamin
217% riboflavin
200% folacin
92% niacin

That's before I take my supplements. Frankly, that's a darned impressive nutritional breakdown for less than 1200 calories. Just in case you're wondering, the liver makes a huge difference. Hard to think of anything more nutritious. Fortunately, I love chicken livers. :-)
