Passover is Right Around the Corner

Passover starts the 20th, and the Passover Season has its own dietary rules and food traditions. Many Jewish folks who don't keep a kosher kitchen do observe the Passover laws, and of course we all have holiday food traditions that tug at our hearts. For those of us who also need to keep our carb load very low, finding the intersection of two separate sets of food restrictions can be daunting.

I cannot pretend to be well-versed in Jewish dietary law, being about as goyish as they get. Fortunately, the Jewish low carb community has a terrific resource online -- Friends With Diabetes. This includes a link to a kosher low carb support list. Friends with Diabetes also puts out a terrific quarterly magazine called Going Forward; Rabbi Hirsch Meisels, its editor, has kindly advised me from time to time.

Great resources for the Jewish low carb community. Enjoy!
