The Office Christmas Party

And I do mean The Office Christmas party! The company That Nice Boy I Married works for had their annual Christmas party at a local bar called The Office. You know, so guys can call home and say "I have to stay late at the office" and not officially be lying. Cute. Anyway, I'm good friends with TNBIM's boss, so I stopped in on my way home from running errands.

Those of you who hang out at the Dana Carpender's Hold the Toast Press Facebook page know that I had a huge breakfast today -- roughly a pound of lamb steak, plus three fried eggs, and my usual after-breakfast sugar-free chocolate. I do load my food toward the front end of the day; it means I have minimal appetite for the rest of the day. I did split an apple with TNBIM right before we did our Total Gym workout; we wanted to see if having a little sugar in our systems made for a better workout. (Results inconclusive.)

That's all I'd had to eat when I headed out just before three to run errands, and I'd eaten the last of it around 1 pm. I got to The Office just before 6 pm. I had a glass of wine, but was ignoring the snacks on the table, all of which were breaded and fried. If they'd had wings I might have hazarded the "light breading," but the wings were all gone by the time I got there, and I had no interest in heavily breaded and fried chicken tenders, nor in also-breaded-and-fried mozzarella sticks.

However, eventually someone ordered a couple of pizzas, one pepperoni, one sausage. They were small -- a slice was maybe 3" across the base and 4" on a side -- but what the heck, it was pizza. So I had a couple of pieces low carb style, which is to say, I peeled off and ate the cheese and meat, leaving the crust on my plate. Another couple of pizzas showed up a while later. Eventually, I'd had the toppings off of 5 small slices of pizza, and two glasses of cabernet.

So that was supper. I was full when I got home, and it's now after 8, so that's that, no more food.

I might add, nobody gave me any trouble about eating the toppings and leaving the crust. Didn't even interest them.

Go thou and do likewise. :-D
